The Thirsting Soul Satisfied in God.
A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
O God, Thou art my God; I shall seek Thee earnestly;
My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,
In a dry and exhausted land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1, NASB
This week I was led to study Psalm 63:1 and what it truly means to be in a wilderness period in our lives. So often, we want to skip the time in the wilderness. We think of wilderness seasons as negative or ones we would rather not have to walk out in our Christian life. Is our understanding of the wilderness accurate? This teaching video will explain the wilderness from a Hebraic point of view. I have attached a study guide for you to use to follow along with the teaching. Quote from the video:
The dry and weary land is where we get to see God's creative power at work in our lives (hey) as He puts us back into divine order (yud) through our surrender (hey) to Him. As we humble ourselves (tsade) before Him, obeying (ayin) the words (pe) of revelation (hey) He speaks to us (pe), we are arranged (definition of wilderness) and put back in order (yud) according to our righteous identity (tsade). Every one of us has snares (tsade) in our souls that keep us from walking in our true identity. We all have experiences (ayin) we have walked through, ungodly fountains (ayin) we are drinking from, and words (pe) we have said that are causing an ungodly harvest (tsade) in our lives. It is this time surrendered in the wilderness, hand in hand with God (yud), that brings us into a new beginning (pe) and out of these things.*
