Why is Everyone Making Sourdough?

Is this more than a trend?

Do you have a jar of sourdough starter on your counter or in your refrigerator right now? Many of us do this season. We have been awakened to the reality of just how unhealthy our mass-market grocery store products are for our health, so many of us are trying our hand at returning to the “good old days” of making our own food. But could something more be going on in this return to making our own bread?

A study of Deuteronomy 4:34 reveals a hidden ancient path mystery that could account for this return to making our own bread. It says, “Or has a god tried to go to take for himself a nation from within another nation by trials, by signs and wonders and by 𝘄𝗮𝗿 and by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm and by great terrors, as the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?” (NASB) Right now, the Lord is pulling His kingdom nation out of the nations. He is separating His people. The Hebrew words of this verse are exactly the time in history we are in! How does making sourdough bread correlate to this season?

The word 𝙬𝙖𝙧 (H4421) means war, battle; the root (H3898) means to fight, do battle, and to feed on and consume. It is a picture of kneading dough! The Hebrew root of the word for 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 (H3899) is also (H3898)!

In Hebrew, making homemade bread and engaging in war are the same thing!

Therefore, the “trend” of homemade bread is not a trend at all! It is more than a reaction to our awakening to the realities of the state of our food supply. It is a symbolic picture of what is happening in the spiritual realm! 𝗔𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺! He is raising a standard.

Who knew feeding our sourdough starter was a picture of us fighting the enemy?! This is why I love studying the Bible Hebraically! There are so many hidden mysteries to discover that will give us wisdom, instruction, and insight into our times and seasons. Nothing is by accident or a coincidence. Let’s keep baking bread, getting away from toxic food supplies, and waging the war on the kingdom of darkness. It may not look like we are making progress and winning, but if we are on God’s side, we will always be victorious in Christ Jesus!
