The Month of New Beginnings and Fresh Starts
How the parallel of January 1, 2025 and Tevet 1, 5785 is significant
God is always speaking and revealing Himself to us if we have ears to hear and eyes to see. He is all around us, speaking to and drawing us to Himself if we know what to look for. One of the ways He speaks is through His calendar and His yearly cycles of time. We are taught to revolve our time around the Gregorian calendar. This would be our yearly January to December timeline. This Greek way of thinking is linear. God's calendar works on a different cycle of time and is cyclical instead of linear. God will speak through both calendars, but when His calendar aligns with the world's Gregorian calendar, we should take time to ask Him if there is something He is speaking.
Right now, we are in a pivotal time on earth, pivotal for nations and for us individually. So, paying attention to the calendar is something we can do to let God give us direction and instruction for this pivotal season.
We are in the final days of Hanukkah, which began on Christmas night. It is significant that both holidays fell together as we ended 2024. Another significant cross-over on the Hebrew and Gregorian calendar was January 1, 2025. Not only was this New Year's Day on the Gregorian calendar, but it was Tevet 1, 5785 on the Hebrew calendar. Each Hebrew month has specific characteristics that we can pray about prophetically to see breakthroughs in our lives. How does this relate to January?
What immediately comes to mind when you think of January and the new year? New starts? New beginnings? Goals? Resolutions? But how many of us set resolutions, make goals, and decide to make a new start in an area, and then, a few weeks or months in, we have lost the willpower to see those things through? Many of us fall away from our resolutions and goals because we are either trying to accomplish them in our own strength or we did not take the time to ask God if those were His plans for our lives. What does Proverbs tell us? A man's mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure (Proverbs 16:9, AMPC). We need the help of the Holy Spirit in making resolutions and setting goals. This is what the Hebrew month of Tevet is all about!
