Today is the release of the first monthly Bible study here on Subtstack! These Bible studies aim to equip Jesus’ church with the true meaning of Scripture free from the mixture of humanism and Western mindsets. Too many of our Christian messages and teachings are mixed with mindsets that elevate man’s way over God’s and have mixed current cultural beliefs into the Scriptures. We have been taught an incomplete and inaccurate version of the Bible that has left believers in a state of confusion, left them powerless over the Devil, and trapped in strongholds that are destroying their lives. These monthly Bible studies are designed to help God’s sons and daughters know the truth that can set them free. They will incorporate original language word studies, geography, Biblical culture, and history to understand the Bible correctly.
This month’s release studies the Gospel of the Kingdom and what salvation truly means. Most of the Western Church has been given the gospel of salvation instead of the gospel of the Kingdom. What is the difference? What do we miss when we do not receive the full message of Kingdom salvation?
This PDF includes an answer key for the assignments. I encourage you to get a journal and begin dialoguing with God about your thoughts. Allow Him to speak to you.
As part of this assignment, you will need to know how to look up Strong’s numbers for words. The Strong’s numbers are the references for the original language—Hebrew for the Old Testament and Greek for the New Testament. Our English definitions often do not give the full depth or accurate meaning of what the authors of the original text were saying. Looking up these words helps us to understand their thoughts more accurately.
There are many apps and websites for looking up words. My two favorite sites are Biblehub.com and studylight.org.
To look up the original meaning of a word, you will first go to Biblehub.com and click on the “Interlin” tab.
When you click on this tab, it will bring up the following screen where you will type your verse in the search bar:
The numbers above the words in a verse are the Strong’s numbers that correlate to a dictionary (Lexicon) definition. If you look up a verse in the Old Testament, the Hebrew reads from right to left. If you look up a New Testament Bible verse, it is in Greek and will read from left to right. The above picture is Genesis 1:1. Genesis 1:1 is in the Old Testament. Therefore, it is Hebrew and is read from right to left. The picture below is John 3:16. John 3:16 is in the New Testament. Therefore, it is Greek and is read from left to right.
Once you have your Strong’s numbers, you will go to studylight.org to find the definition. The tab you will use to find the definitions is “Language Tools.”
When you click on “Language Tools,” you will see a drop-down box that looks like this:
Under “Bible Lexicon,” type in the Strong’s number, mark if it is a Greek or Hebrew word, and click “Go.” You must click the “Go” button and not hit enter. Simply hitting “enter” on your keyboard will take you back to the beginning. Once you hit go, you will see the information about that word. This example is the word loved (G25) from John 3:16.
These two websites will help you complete the word studies in this month’s study. I bless you as you dive into truth this month!
Blessings, Brandee
