And He made from one, every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times, and the boundaries of their habitation, that they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist.
Acts 17:26-28, NASB
If you are alive right now, God set this period as the appointed time that you were to be living. The good works He planned for you were written out in His books in Heaven to be accomplished within this time frame and location where you live (Psalm 139:16, Ephesians 2:10, Acts 17:26-28). Your life is an appointed time.
However, God has set specific appointed times when we shift and move throughout our lives. God designs these kairos times to keep us in tune with our destiny and purpose. Are we able to recognize them when they are upon us?
What is a kairos time in our lives?
In the New Testament, two words are used for time: chronos (G5550) and kairos (G2540). Chronos denotes chronological or sequential time, whereas kairos describes a fixed time or due season. Kairos is a period of time when things are brought to a crisis or a time of fulfillment or opportunity is upon us. During chronos, we experience kairos seasons. Acts 17 tells us that God appoints these kairos times. Appointed (G4384) means a pre-arranged, prescribed period of time in God’s master plan for our lives.
As we walk in intimacy and fellowship with God daily, He will begin to open our eyes to these seasons in our lives. God works in cycles. His calendar is set up in cycles that revolve around set times. These set times are the yearly feasts, known in Hebrew as moed (H4150). This Hebrew word is one of the two Hebrew equivalents of kairos. The other Hebrew word that conveys the same meaning is eth (H6256). Eth means a time or season, but what do we see when we break eth down into the Hebrew letters?
