The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him,
The spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The spirit of counsel and strength,
The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
Isaiah 11:2, NASB
Today, we will continue our study of the Spirits of God in Isaiah 11:2. As I researched the Spirit of understanding over the weekend, the Holy Spirit impressed upon me to make this a free post for all the subscribers here on Substack. Usually, I will only include the video segments of the teachings for those of you who have partnered with me to be a paid subscriber. But today's teaching is different. In today's video, we will not look at the Hebrew letters of the word for understanding. Instead, I will teach a short lesson on how our brains work and the importance of renewing our minds and inner healing.
We all carry a spirit of understanding inside of us. The question is, though, which spirit of understanding are we operating from? Holy Spirit understanding or our own understanding? Are we operating from the mind of Christ or the conclusions our minds create to make sense of situations and our world? The Spirit of Understanding that God wants to set upon us through the manifestation of His Holy Spirit will often be in opposition to the conclusions our minds create. These faulty conclusions come from unresolved pain, trauma, and ungodly beliefs attached to our souls.
Check out this video teaching for more on how our brains operate and the Spirit of understanding:
understanding- biynah (H998) understanding, discernment; from biyn (H995) to discern, understand, consider, to perceive, to have insight, to be intelligent; to teach, to instruct.
Scriptures:
1 Chronicles 12:32, NASB From the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their kinsmen were at their command.
Job 38:36, NASB Who has put wisdom in the innermost being,
Or given understanding to the mind?
Proverbs 4:5, NASB Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding!
Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Proverbs 7:4, NASB Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”
And call understanding your intimate friend,
Proverbs 16:16, NASB How much better it is to get wisdom than gold!
And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver.
Proverbs 3:5, NASB Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
The renewing of our minds so we can operate in the Spirit of understanding is vital for the times and seasons we are living in. It really can be the difference between life and death and the ability to operate in joy and peace instead of fear. If we are operating in fear, we cannot make godly decisions, and we can become subject to the traps of the enemy he is setting to kill, steal, and destroy our lives.
To help you renew your mind and repair your mind gates, I will be releasing a study on Nehemiah 1-3 called Healing the Memory Gates in December. This study will help you understand further how your brain uses gates to process information by using the pattern of restoration of the broken-down gates around Jerusalem. This study will include several teaching videos and a step-by-step guide through the first three chapters of Nehemiah. All teaching will be rooted in Hebraic concepts and the Hebrew alphabet, as well as utilize the four levels of Bible study to get into the deepest levels of meaning God has hidden in His Scriptures.
