Psalm 100
1Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
2Serve the Lord with gladness and delight;
Come before His presence with joyful singing.
3 Know and fully recognize with gratitude that the Lord Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His].
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates with a song of thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, bless and praise His name.
5 For the Lord is good;
His mercy and lovingkindness are everlasting,
His faithfulness [endures] to all generations.
Happy Thanksgiving! As we celebrate this holiday today, let us remember to come before the Lord with thanksgiving and praise. The Psalmist tells us that our thanksgiving should be a joyful shout. If you are reading this today and do not feel like you can make a joyful shout unto the Lord, I want to tell you what this phrase actually means.
To shout joyfully to the Lord is the Hebrew word rûwaʻ (H7321). It means "to cry out, shout a war cry of battle, and to shout in triumph over one's enemies." In prayer this week, the Lord reminded me He is the LORD of Hosts. He is the victor! He is the one who accomplishes the victory in every battle we face. In 2 Chronicles 20, the shouts of praise went forth, and the Lord won the battle. Enemies surrounded God's army on all sides, but the LORD of Hosts fought for them as they praised and trusted Him.
So today, as we celebrate Thanksgiving, may you raise your voice to shout in triumph over whatever circumstance you are in or the trial that is happening in your life. Our God is faithful. As we praise, He will accomplish the victory!
Thanksgiving Blessings,
Brandee
