Today, we are diving into a study on the third letter of the Hebrew alphabet! The gimel is a letter that means provision and blessings, but it also means pride and self-will. It is a picture of a camel, which you will see how that relates to blessings and provision.
The heart of this study looks at two passages of Scripture: Deuteronomy 28 and Matthew 5:3-12. God gives us a choice every day if we want to choose life and blessings or if we want to choose death and curses. Life and blessings come from an intimate relationship with God, hearing Him, and responding in obedience, while death and curses come when we choose to remain in pride and self-will, turning our backs from God’s commands and ways. It is not God’s desire for anyone to walk in death and curses, but because of sin and the Adam bloodline we are born into, we remain under the curse of sin until we are redeemed and brought back into connection with God through salvation in Jesus Christ.
As you study the gimel, you may have questions about whether or not believers in Jesus Christ still operate under curses since Galatians 3:13 says, Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE” (NASB). Jesus broke the curse of the law. However, we must apply what He did to our lives for the penalties of sin to be broken. Sin has consequences. Galatians also describes this as seed time and harvest; we will reap what we sow.
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked [He will not allow Himself to be ridiculed, nor treated with contempt nor allow His precepts to be scornfully set aside]; for whatever a man sows, this and this only is what he will reap. For the one who sows to his flesh [his sinful capacity, his worldliness, his disgraceful impulses] will reap from the flesh ruin and destruction, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
Galatians 6:7-8, AMP
This is what happens when we do not choose God and His ways. What we have sown will come to harvest.
On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, I heard the Spirit say, Tell My children I AM THE GOD OF THE HARVEST, and I CAN destroy seeds and cause crop failure. I do this in My children’s lives all the time. There are some seeds that must be allowed to grow because My children will not change any other way.
The more we choose life on a daily basis, the more good seeds we plant in the soil of our lives. We are made from dirt, so every choice we make and every act of obedience or disobedience is planting seeds in our souls for a harvest. As we continue to surrender to God and obey Him, He will rip up bad seeds and remove any curses that could come into our lives because of sin.
This study on the gimel will help you understand what it means to plant good seeds and bear the abundant fruit of righteousness.
May you be blessed to choose life! May God bend His knee and bring you the abundant blessings He has for you! As we decide to obey His ways and commands, He told me on January 23, 2025, our eyes will behold what our faith has known! AMEN! I know I want that in my life, and I imagine you do as well!
Blessings,
