The book of Acts tells us that when Peter spoke the rhema words about the forgiveness of sins through Jesus, the Holy Spirit fell on all those listening to his message (Acts 10:43-44). Paul tells us in Romans 10 that those that preach the gospel should be sent carrying the rhema gospel message (Romans 10:8, 14-15, 17-18). Peter tells us that the rhema word should be preached to us (1 Peter 1:25).
So, the question is, are we submitting ourselves to leaders in the Body of Christ who carry the rhema word? Or are we just hearing good messages from our pulpits, podcasts, videos, and books? Why does this matter? It matters because Romans 10:17 tells us that our faith will be built through the rhema word of Christ.
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
